Get started

1. Open Wordforge’s toolbar popup, then Settings.
2. Choose a provider, paste your own API key, select a model, and save. A consumer chatbot subscription does not necessarily include API access. Usage is billed by your provider.
3. Highlight writing in a supported field, right-click, and choose Wordforge and an action. With no selection, the current field is captured.
4. Review the result and choose Insert text. If the editor declines insertion, use the copy/paste fallback.

Check as you write

Enable “Check my writing” in Settings and save. Pause for 1.5 seconds for suggestions. “Check sentences sooner” uses a 0.3-second pause at recognized sentence endings and may use more tokens. Red underlines mark corrections; blue underlines suggest clearer sentences. Hover or click an underline to review it.

“Accept all corrections” applies red corrections. Its arrow menu offers “Accept all suggestions,” including sentence rewrites. Review the writing after bulk changes. “Check all” reviews the current field, not the whole page.

Troubleshooting

• No suggestions: confirm writing checks are enabled, the page is not paused, and the selected provider has a valid key and available model.
• Unexpected suggestions: try a different model. AI suggestions may be wrong; review before accepting.
• Rate-limit error: check your provider’s quota, billing and model access. Wordforge waits at least a minute before contacting that provider again after a rate limit. It does not automatically retry failed requests.
• Field changed: Wordforge preserves newer text. Capture it again before inserting.
• Extension updated: save your draft and refresh the page so the current content script loads.

Supported editors

Wordforge supports standard text inputs, textareas, and many DOM-based rich-text editors on HTTP and HTTPS pages. Support varies by website. Password, read-only, disabled, and recognized password, payment-card and one-time-code fields are excluded. Chrome internal pages, local files, embedded-frame editors, closed-shadow editors, and canvas editors such as Google Docs are not supported in this version. Inputs are limited to 20,000 characters. Direct insertion may fall back to copying.
